Team of experienced and capable realtors in Anchorage at Alaskanhome.com shares useful tips to own a dream home as per the requirement and budget.
Anchorage homebuyers are always on the hunt for their dream home – you know, thehome that will offer happiness, comfort, and security for their family. However, the real estate market in Anchorage can at times prove to be challenging for homebuyers – finding your perfect home in Anchorage requires the right timing and insight. To help you track down the right home for you and yours, we’ve put together a handful of tips to consider in the buying process.
Location: Before starting your home search, figure out your ideal neighborhood. If you don’t know Anchorage well, then think generally: do I want to be close to schools and parks, or do I prefer shopping and restaurants? Is a commute to work okay, or do I want to be able to run home for lunch? Do I want something on the outskirts of town, or in the heart of the city? As you piece together your dream neighborhood, talk with your Realtor – he/she knows Anchorage back and forth and will help you make your dream neighborhood a reality.
Housing Type: There is a variety of homes for sale in Anchorage: single-family, multi-family (duplexes, four-plexes), town-houses, condos, and more. Think about what’s practical and comfortable for you. Do you mind a standard staircase, or is a ranch style home more desirable? Are you growing your family, or are you retired and ready to downsize? Do you enjoy “do it yourself” projects around the house, or do you want a condo association to take care of exterior maintenance for you? Do you need a place to park the RV outside, or do you want to be part of a homeowners association that probably restricts that sort of thing? From the wide range of homes for sale in Anchorage, you can find the type that best suits your needs.
Budget: This might be the most significant consideration you need to make. If you’re not sure how much house you can afford, talk to your Realtor about financing options (especially you first time homebuyers!). If you take the conventional financing route, you’ll bring a down payment to the table, then pay the remaining balance off over a decade or three. Once you know how big of a loan you’re qualified for, you can look for houses within your budget parameters. There are special financing options for active military folks, veterans, those just getting started and needing some lender flexibility, and conventional loans for those who have bought and sold several homes and built up their equity.
Wish List: Before you look at properties, put together a wish list. One of our favorite ways to do this is ABC: Absolutes, Be Nice, Cool but not necessary. What are your must haves? Where are you willing to be flexible? If you find a home with your dream kitchen, will the fact that it has one less bedroom than you’re looking for be a deal breaker? Figuring these things out before starting your home search will save you (and your Realtor!) precious time.
Future Value: Even though you’re looking to fill an immediate need – a place to live – think about how the home you end up purchasing will fare in the future. Is it a new construction? Is it a fixer upper with tons of potential for a higher selling price in the future? Will this property appeal to the broad market when you become a future seller? These are definitely worth considering in your home search.
