Donation Drive Brings Together Community for the Holidays

To get local residents into the giving spirit for the holiday season, PODS Las Vegas is teaming up with X107.5 to raise funds and collect essential everyday items for their “Help for the Holidays” donation drive to benefit The Shade Tree. A PODS container will be onsite to store all of the items donated during the event on Nov. 17-18 from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. at Town Square.

During the two-day event, the public is encouraged to drop off the following necessities to help support women and children during their stay at the Shade Tree: first aid essentials, towels, washcloths, bedding and sheets, alarm clocks, hygiene products, kitchen appliances, essential baby items, women and children’s clothes, bathroom items, DVD players, hair products, and laundry detergent. 

“PODS Las Vegas is honored to be a part of an event that helps to raise donations so that women and children of abuse can get the help they need to get back on their feet,” said Lane Moore, owner of PODS of Las Vegas. “We are honored to provide our moving and storage services for an organization like Shade Tree that provides so much for the local community.”

Established in 1989, the Shade Tree is one of the largest shelters in the state that provides a safe place that is specifically designed to meet the needs of homeless and abused women, as well as children who are in crisis. The 24-hour shelter offers 364 beds, libraries, training rooms, kitchen, laundry, restrooms and a playroom for the children.

“PODS is an integral part of the campaign that will help us collect and store the donations for the women, children and pets of Shade Tree,” said Marlene Richter, Executive Director of The Shade Tree. “It’s the key to our success because it helps the donors know where to go to make their contributions for the holidays while saving us a lot in moving and storing costs.”
