9th Jul, 2016 - Millions of foreign travelers tour Kenya every year for, what they anticipate, a superb safari adventure in one of those enchanting surrounding places such as Amboseli National Park and Masai Mara. When they come off the flight, they’re approached by so many street tout who wish to sell them a Kenya safari tour on the spot. In Mombasa and Nairobi, there’re so many tour operators, but they are not all reliable.
“While there’re reputed company like us that try to offer you an authentic Kenya safari trip, many firms deliver poor service whereas others are outright crooks. Complaints vary from overlooking reasonable customer demands and horrible foods to vanishing overnight with your cash and sexual assault by staff members” said a spokesperson of Buy More Adventures.
There is often quite some cash involved. For a budget camping safari trip (meaning you will be staying in a tent at a bare camp site in place of a luxury lodge or tented camp) the minimum costs are around $70-$80 per person for a night –which signifies at least $560 for a couple looking for a five-day safari (which I suggest is the minimum duration to have the authentic bush adventure). This’s a lot of cash for a majority of Kenyans.
A majority of allegations are regarding budget companies in Mombasa and Nairobi. The ever escalating park entrance charges and the soaring gas costs restrict their capability to slash prices. They rather attempt to slash price by not sustaining their safari vans or by entering into the parks illegally, which may get you in problem.
The spokesperson further said” Many budget firms don’t possess their own gears, but hang around until they’ve adequate bookings and then quickly attempt to rent some equipment. But who says you will get back your cash in case they do not succeed? Furthermore, some firms don’t even arrange the safari trips themselves, but only work as a type of middle man who operate on commission basis for the real safari organizers. Often, it is tough to tell them apart. While this sort of contracts aren’t bad in principle, it may depart you with insecurity who is accountable in case of non-compliance. However, in case of professional Kenya safari company like” Buy More Adventures” you can certainly expect to be compensated if anything goes unfortunate”.
The only way to avoid bad safari companies in Kenya is by doing thorough research before hiring any particular service. As the internet is filled with so much information, so this could be the place where you can find both good and bad reviews about different Kenyan safari companies.
