Glasgow, London (prnob) November 4, 2015 - Timeline Trip Edinburgh, a new app available for Android and iOS, offers smartphone and tablet owners the chance of stepping back in time and learning about Scotland's capital city as it was in years gone by. Using a clever combination of chronologically-presented information and GPS awareness, the app really does bring history to life for device owners.
You can download Timeline Trip Edinburgh free of charge on the App Store and Google Play, and it's optimized for the smartphone, tablet, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch. Once installed on your handset, you can set a year to explore and may begin navigating historic maps of the city on your device. The app, as of this writing, seems to span all the way back to the Stuart period, and it details notable events including The Union of the Crowns, the Scottish Enlightenment, Industrial Revolution up to date. Because the application is written by actual tour guides based in Edinburgh, you can be assured that the information relayed in Timeline Trip is both accurate and interesting.
Over in the app's release notes, developer Carbonbyte LTD explains:
Do you know… why there was a lake in what today is Princes Street Gardens? Who was the first King of United Kingdom? What has happen in the Edinburgh Castle? Or what monument is called "Scotland's disgrace"? The app features hundred of illustrations and "dozens of interesting stories divided into years and categories," according to the developer. Its GPS integration is a smart move, too.
Features include:
-Written by tour guides in the city. -Button to change the transparency of the maps and see how it has changed. -Divided into years and categories -With GPS tracking allows you to locate yourself on the map. -Translated into English and Spanish
Timeline Trip Edinburgh clearly offers one of the best (and most interesting) ways of getting to know Scotland's fine capital city. You can download the application now on the App Store and Google Play: as mentioned, it's available free of charge and is optimized for tablet and smartphone.
