New Website Aims To Tackle Loneliness in Cambridge

An Essex couple has selected Cambridge, UK as the location to launch Friendships Connect, a new community website (www.friendshipsconnect.com) dedicated to helping people find friendship.

Cambridge, London (prnob) March 10, 2016 - An Essex couple has selected Cambridge, UK as the location to launch Friendships Connect, a new community website (www.friendshipsconnect.com) dedicated to helping people find friendship. Unlike dating sites, the new site aims to bring together people seeking companionship based upon their common interests.

Demographic studies have shown that Cambridgeshire has the third highest proportion of single people living in the UK, and a study carried out by Relate in 2014 found that 1 in 10 people said they did not have a close friend, amounting to an estimated 4.7 million people in the UK potentially leading a very lonely existence.

As founder Linda Flanagan explains  "Friendships Connect aims to change this, and we are opening membership this month to people in the Cambridgeshire area who are genuinely looking for friendship. "

"We expect most interest will come from people who find themselves in a lonely situation, often through no fault of their own and just needing a friend. Initially, the site will be aimed at people who have relocated, divorced, separated, are single parents or have been widowed."

Friendships Connect is not a dating site and unlike some more traditional introduction websites, people's identities are fully protected and only available to full members.
