Michael Rahban Launches Kickstarter Campaign For Mininalist’s Wallet

Michael Rahban, the creator & designer of the renowned Swivel Key Wallet, this week officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering widespread support and financial backing for his latest crowdfunding venture, the MRD Minimalist Wallet.

Long Beach, CA - Michael Rahban, the creator & designer of the renowned Swivel Key Wallet, this week officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for garnering widespread support and financial backing for his latest crowdfunding venture, the MRD Minimalist Wallet.

The latest in Rahban’s ‘EDC line of products’, the MRD Minimalist Wallet is crafted from aerospace grade aluminum, 304 grade stainless steel, vegetable tanned leathers and exotic laser cut and etched hardwoods. A CNC machined aluminum frame coupled with .020 stainless plates form the rigid base structure that provides the platform for the wood and leather veneers. This contrast in materials complement each other forming a durable wallet with a "soft" touch. As the entire wallet is encased in metal, RFID protection is standard on every wallet.

The MRD wallet is designed in such a fashion that the wallet’s contents are fully encased for a better visual appearance and protective function. A built in spring plate is a featured part of the wallet’s design. It was designed and implemented in order to elevate the cards as the user slides back the top cover plate.

“The MRD Minimalist Wallet is a continuation of an earlier concept that I had created over 2 years ago, “ said Rahban, a classically trained photographer who received his training at the Art Center College of Design. “I believe that form always follows function. [Thus], the evolution in design and functionality has progressed into a lighter, more elegant and compact iteration that focuses on material contrast to bring into focus the design details that separate its visual appearance form other options on the market”

Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. ‘Backers’ who support a project on Kickstarter get an inside look at the creative process, and help that project come to life. All Backers of Rahban’s Kickstarter campaign will receive ‘Rewards’for supporting the project. Rewards range from a Slimline MRD minimalist wallet sans money clip, in a choice of frame color, wood veneer and leather options for a pledge $48 or more, to receiving two MRD wallets with money clips for a pledge of $110 or more.

The Kickstarter campaign is officially open until September 22, 2016.
