Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 12, 2026: Makana.com, an online marketplace for used heavy equipment located in Jebel Ali Free Zone, has ended its first year of operation with 100 machines sold to buyers in nine countries. The company marked its first anniversary on September 1, 2026, and has shared a breakdown of its first year in figures.
In the twelve-month period, 17 sellers placed 314 machines on the platform. The group included construction contractors, fleet operators and equipment dealers, and the consigned machinery carried a total value of more than AED 60 million.
The sales mix ranged from compact site machines to large specialised equipment. Makana sold 17 skid steer loaders, five wheel loaders, four boom loaders and one Komatsu PC850 long boom excavator, along with machines from other categories. Skid steer loaders are small loaders that work with front attachments such as buckets and forks, and are common on construction and landscaping sites.
How the platform works
Makana sells machinery for owners on a consignment basis. Instead of handling calls, viewings and negotiations, an owner places the machine with Makana, which manages the sale. Where applicable, each machine is inspected and tested before listing, and buyers can review an inspection report of more than 75 checkpoints, operational video, specifications and 3D and 360-degree views.
Owners who use Makana's machinery consignment service receive payment within three to five days of a completed sale. According to the company, owners usually consign equipment when upgrading a fleet, retiring older machines, cutting down on idle equipment or raising funds for new projects.
Auctions and buyer reach
As well as fixed-price listings, Makana ran four online auctions during the year, with a number of buyers and sellers returning for more than one event. The fifth auction opened for bidding on October 1, 2026.
The company said buyers for a given machine may be based in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Africa or Asia, and that detailed inspection information is what allows buyers in other countries to purchase without visiting the machine.
