This month is dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating many causes, one of which is Fair Trade. Did you know October is Fair Trade Month? Every Fair Trade purchase protects the environment and improves lives.
In honor of Fair Trade Month, Gifts With a Cause would like to spread awareness of the importance of Fair Trade by hosting weekly giveaways all month! This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and support Fair Trade. Giveaways will be announced via email and social media.
The artisans who produce Fair Trade products earn fair wages and community development funds. Fair Trade can be found in all sorts of categories, including cosnumer goods, such as gifts! Many people are not aware that Fair Trade extends beyond coffee and chocolate. Gifts With a Cause is a perfect example of a Fair Trade company working towards sustainble change, and committed to creating an ethical production cycle of consumer goods.
Fair Trade principles ensure women empowerment, no child labor, enviromental conservation, education, workplace safety, and poverty alleviation.
"Without Fair Trade wages, women can't work themselves out of impoverished situations. The key priority is for women artisans to give their children education. After consistently hearing this throughout our travels, we created a way to provide sustainable jobs for mothers," said Liz Allen, co-founder of Gifts With a Cause.
The key word here is sustainability. GWAC provides artisans with job training and most importantly access to global markets. By respecting artisans and their desire to earn economic indepence to support their family, this creates lasting solution to the root causes of poverty.
Fair Trade Month is a celebration of fair trade as a powerful movement to the worldwide fight against poverty, climate change and economic crises. To demonstrate commitment to the accomplishment of the United Natoins Global Goals, Gifts With a Cause is a proud member of the United Nations Global Compact.
