Cherrystone Auctions, Inc. is a top-notch philatelic auction house founded in New York City in 1967. Every six to eight weeks, the highly reputable stamp auctioneering company holds huge public sales/auctions that link together local, national, and international sellers and buyers of rare stamps and other valuable philatelic items. Earlier this month, the company held such a sale and the public enjoyed quite a treat.
For close to five decades, Cherrystone Auctions has been in the business of connecting collectors from all corners of the earth. The company has gained a solid foothold in the American philatelic industry and its soaring reputation has transcended geographical borders earning it a sizable following in other continents. The company's core product offering, which has enhanced its business appeal, is its public auctions. Popularly known as the public auctions for Rare Stamps and Postal History of the World, these massive sales' events present rare stamps and other valuable philatelic materials from various regions in the world including the United States, South America, Poland, British Commonwealth, Asia, Germany and its Colonies, Russia, and France and its Colonies. The August 9-10 public sale was such an event and it brought together numerous philatelic collectors and hobbyists from all over the world.
The August auction was conducted at Cherrystone Auctions' headquarters from 9 a.m. Tuesday to the end of the next day. Comprising a total of four sessions, the auction featured a total of 1,655 lots. Some of the most popular lots included bank notes, reproductions, revenue stamps, newspaper stamps, postal stationery, and autographs. Although most lots earned below $1,000, some lots hit several thousand dollars due to their rarity. Cherrystone Auctions offered participating clients a variety of bidding options/platforms. Some clients went to the physical location of the auction at the company's galleries in New York City. Other clients placed their bids live and competed with other bidders on-the-floor in real-time — via the company's interactive web-based bidding system called, CherrystoneLIVE. Alternatively clients could fill out their bids on the company's online bid form or submit their bids online via the online auction catalogue. In some cases, online bidders were not present and the company executed their bids in absentia. Finally, other clients placed their bids via email, phone, fax, or through auction agents. The company discarded all bids that were significantly lower than their estimates. More details concerning realized lots can be found at https://www.cherrystoneauctions.com/_auction
In line with the company's vision and mission statement, Cherrystone Auctions has earned its place in many philatelic organizations and associations including the American Stamp Dealers’ Association, Philatelic Traders Society, The Collectors Club of New York, and the American Philatelic Society among others. Consequently, collectors have expressed gratitude by sending the company positive customer reviews and offering client referrals to enhance the company's operations. To sum up, the message is very clear; Cherrystone Auctions should keep up the good work, continuing their steadfast pledge to ensure that philately becomes a global hobby.
