PracticeMax Continues Market Expansion with Six New Contracts for Its Direct Service Claim

Automated Medical Billing Solution Helping School Districts Realize Decreased Processing Times and Improved Electronic Tracking

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., August 5, 2010 – (http://practicemax.com/) PracticeMax, a leading provider of a comprehensive suite of business solutions that help healthcare providers maximize their operations, today announced that the following Arizona school districts have selected the company’s Direct Service Claiming (DSC) service, a Medicaid billing and claims management solution for schools with special education programs:

·         Alhambra Elementary School District (Phoenix, Ariz.)

·         Dysart Unified School District (Surprise, Ariz.)

·         Fowler Elementary School District (Phoenix, Ariz.)

·         Nadaburg Unified School District (Wittmann, Ariz.)

·         Sanders Unified School District (Sanders, Ariz.)

·         Tolleson Elementary School District (Tolleson, Ariz.)

PracticeMax DSC features an electronic medical record (EMR) developed in conjunction with MediaNet Solutions, Inc., the developers of e-IEP PRO®, a customizable, Web-based software application that simplifies management of the special education process. The PracticeMax/e-IEP PRO solution automates the billing process for therapists, counselors, health aides and other professionals working in special education programs while greatly enhancing compliance with state and federal DSC billing regulations.

Dysart Unified School District, who transitioned to PracticeMax DCS from another system in February 2010, adopted the solution to more effectively manage its rapid expansion. The district has tripled in size during the past five years and is currently responsible for 23,000 students throughout 20 elementary schools, one alternative program campus and four comprehensive high schools.

“Our need for improved operational processes was growing right alongside our district,” notes Dr. Juliann McCarthy, director of special education for Dysart Unified School District. “With PracticeMax DSC, we’ve found a system that is easy to use, and therefore more likely to be utilized consistently by our staff. Since switching to PracticeMax several months ago, we’ve already noticed a marked increase in collections and significantly improved electronic tracking of Medicaid claims.”

In the case of the Dysart contract, the PracticeMax integration team trained all 370 of the district’s providers, and within three weeks, was submitting claims on behalf of the district to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). In addition, during the first four months of submitting claims, the PracticeMax DSC solution was able to increase the district’s revenues by 90 percent when compared to Dysart’s previous billing service.

“It’s not uncommon for school districts like Dysart to achieve results very quickly when deploying our fully integrated solution, and we fully expect these other new districts to soon be realizing similar enhancements to their claims processes,” said Chuck Engelmann, vice president at PracticeMax. “We are pleased that our DSC solution continues to help school districts reduce the paperwork burden for educators and caregivers so they can focus more of their time and energy on serving and caring for students. In fact, it is largely because of the tangible improvements we have delivered for our existing district customers that we anticipate several additional districts will switch to PracticeMax for the 2010-2011 school year.”

In addition to benefiting from PracticeMax DSC’s integration with e-IEP PRO, districts using the DSC solution are able to access the full resources and capabilities of one of the nation’s leading billing services. By leveraging the latest in healthcare billing technology, PracticeMax DSC minimizes errors and delays due to duplicate data entry, streamlines record-keeping and enhances financial reporting capabilities. Ultimately, the system improves claims accuracy to facilitate greater reimbursement, and helps schools ensure compliance with relevant medical billing and special education rules and regulations.
